The Conference revises in depth its rules of procedure

News | 21 June 2021
On 18 June 2021, the International Labour Conference adopted a consolidated text of amended Standing Orders of the Conference to take as from the closure of its 109th Session in December 2021. This is the first comprehensive review of the rules of procedure of the annual Conference to be undertaken since 1945. This is the result of a major modernization effort aiming at the deletion of obsolete provisions, the codification of current practices, and the simplification and rationalization of the overall structure of the Standing Orders. To facilitate the lengthy consultation process, the Office prepared an article-by-article commentary providing explanations about the basis, scope and purpose of the proposed amendments.
