The ILO formally launched a new two year technical co-operation project "IPA National Programme 2010 for Albania/Human Resources Development" financed by the European Commission.

ILO launches project in Albania covering labour inspection

LAB/ADMIN took part in the event along with the ILO Skills and Employability Department and the ILO Budapest office.

The objective of the project is to improve the capacity of labour market institutions, mainly the State Labour Inspectorate and the National Employment Service and promote employment by enhancing the employability of the Albanian workforce.

With respect to the modernisation of the State Labour Inspectorate, the expected results of the project include:

  • adapting Albanian legislation to European Union standards on health and safety at work;
  • improving the capacity of the Labour Inspectorate in line with the national strategy, the new framework law on occupational health and safety at work and the EU common principles of inspection;
  • improving public awareness on occupational safety and health; strengthening the human and technical capacities of the State Labour Inspectorate in order to reinforce labour law compliance;
