Training Workshop on “Building modern and effective labour administration and inspection systems in Indonesia”.

Giuseppe Casale (Director, LAB/ADMIN), René Robert (Technical Specialist, LAB/ADMIN) and A. Sivananthiran (ILO consultant) conducted an initial training workshop for 40 Indonesian labour inspectors based on the ITC-ILO training package.

The ILO team gave presentations on the role of labour administration and labour inspection in furthering good governance and decent work. They also spoke about promoting the ratification and improving the implementation of relevant international labour standards, as well as the challenges and trends of the employment relationship.The ILO also held discussions with the Director General of the Labour Inspection Department (Mr. Made Arka) from the Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration and agreed on a plan of action for additional training activities to be carried out in 2011 through the generous assistance of the ILO-Jakarta Office and Norwegian Government.
