Supply chains and systemic change: the case of a mining multinational in Laos

Short description

In collaboration with RMIT University, the Lab documented the business model of PanAust Limited, an Australian multinational company in the copper and gold mining sector. In Lao PDR, the company has successfully led its business activities, which have been conducive to the socio-economic development of local communities at various levels. Building on this case, using a market systems lens, the Lab identifies leverage points which lead firms can use to improve the sustainability of their supply chains, while preserving good economic results. The brief ends on a set of key lessons learnt from drawing this case study, as well as recommendations for best practice.
