Responsible business conduct and forced labour: Understanding the elimination of forced labour and ILO core conventions for effective human rights due diligence

This course will provide tools for enterprises, stakeholders and policy makers to become allies in the fight against forced labour, understanding ILO core conventions and what these conventions entail for enterprises under the lens of Responsible Business Conduct and the ILO MNE Declaration.

49.6 million people were living in modern slavery in 2021, of which 27.6 million were in forced labour. Of the 27.6 million people in forced labour, 17.3 million are exploited in the private sector. Enterprises have a crucial role to play in preventing and fighting forced labour. This course will provide tools for enterprises, stakeholders and policy makers to become allies in the fight against forced labour, understanding ILO conventions 29, and its 2014 protocol, and 105 and what these conventions entail for enterprises under the lens of Responsible Business Conduct and the ILO MNE Declaration.

Enterprises (sustainability and/or community relations managers), trade unions, ministries of trade and commerce, investment promotion agencies, development banks, global reporting and benchmarking initiatives, national human rights institutions, academia, OECD National contact points, UN agencies, and policy makers.
