This case can be raising a problem of the current pandemic as crew remain on board despite a request for repatriation and expired contracts.

IG P&I informed as below.
•The Swedish club was first notified by the vessel manager on 22nd June that the crew of SEXTA had refused to perform a northbound transit of the Suez Canal, and were insisting on payment of outstanding wages and immediate repatriation.
•The member conceded there had been issues with payment of wages, but after some delay provided the Club with satisfactory evidence that the bulk of the crew were paid up to date (as per their contractual terms).
•The crew was ultimately persuaded to transit Suez on the basis that they would be repatriated to their home countries from Crete (investigations having shown Greece represented the easiest and quickest way to get them home).
•The vessel arrived in Crete on or around 2nd July. After some further delays involving negotiations over small amounts said to remain due to the crew (in terms of several days accrued wages, rather than months), the crew disembarked the vessel and proceeded to the airport on 10th July to catch their flights home. Only to find the airline and travel agents advised no booking had been confirmed.
•Presented with this information, and against the background as described above, the Club agreed to arrange transportation from the airport, overnight hotel accommodation, and flight tickets for repatriation the following day. Total costs incurred in this respect were EUR 10,540 for flights, and EUR 6,640 for accommodation, transportation and subsistence costs (there will of course be some correspondent fees in addition).
•So far as we are aware, the repatriation of the crew members was effected on 11th July and no further problems have been reported in connection with this event.

Crew wanted to disembark but informed that it was not possible.
Subsequently, the vessel has been arrested in Greece, with only 2 of the original crew members on board. Resolved.
