Circumstances:Following engine failure, the vessel was towed to Cochin in August 2008. Legal proceedings brought by the towage company ensued. Four of the original nine crew, including the Master and Chief Engineer were repatriated in September 2008.

Tried to contact the Owner through e-mail and phone several times but it was in vain. When the Tug¿s Agent also abandoned the ship ITF inspector and union went to local court praying payment of wages and compensation under Sec. 145 of Indian Merchant Shipping Act. Court had issued detention of the vessel at Cochin Port. Hearing at the Court is progressing.

Informed by flag state (Government of Panama):A note has been sent to the legal representative informing on the seafarers situation. Until this moment, they did not respond although contact has been made on several occasions with the contact agent in order to have them responding to this complaint. The Maritime Authority was not able to communicate with the ship owner as it does not have the owner's electronic address and fax number.
