Govt. of Spain (7 February 2023) Dear Mr. de Boer, please see below the information submitted by the Local Maritime Authority in Las Palmas on the situation of the fishing vessel ‘KOUBIA’, IMO Number 8606733, flag: Guinea abandoned in Las Palmas, Canary Islands, Spain having on board 9 seafarers. 1. ITF Local representative informed Las Palmas Maritime Authority that the crew of the fishing vessel Koubia were working with no employment contracts and that they did not receive their salaries for 9 months. ITF’s protocol was applied including notification of the abandonment and communications with shipowner. 2. On 8 February Local Agent hands over 137.073,01 € in cash to the captain. According to information provided by the shipowner, this amount covers the unpaid wages until 2022.
