From DIRECTORATE GENERAL OF SHIPPING, MUMBAI
1. I am directed to refer your email dated 03.06.2021 informing this Office about the abandonment of vessel LARABON (Formerly MARAYA; IMO No. 7514517; Zavrbia Flag)
having 07 seafarers on board (05 from India and 02 from Syria) since 23.03.2021.I1 is also informed that the crew have two (02) months of wages pending. The vessel have very limited provisions on board and the request of all the seafarers for their repatriation has also been tumed down. It is also informed that the registration of vessel with the Zarrbia is still pending and they have not been informed about the incident yet. Owners were also contacted but they didn't responded to any of the communicated made to them.
2. In this connection, it is stated that the matter was immediately taken up with the RPS Company, as per the details available in the E-Gov. System of this Directorate. The RPS Company in response has informed that the last slot of seafarers recruited through them have already been signed off from the vessel in 2019. Cunently they don't have any seafarer recruited on board by them. As such the possibility that the said seafarers might have taken the employment on board the ship directly cannot be ruled out.
3. In view of the above, it is kindly requested that the current crew list of the said vessel may please be obtained from the source of the complaint and communicated to this office so as to enable this Office to take further necessary action in the matter at the earliest.
