Circunstancias:Ship crew abandoned without food, drinking water or fuel. Information originated from crew, confirmed by local ITF affiliate. Owners would seem also to be in debt to local suppliers and shipping agents. According to Mission to Seafarers representative the crew are enduring substandard living conditions, with no air conditioning and subject to serious risks of disease from mosquitoes and other insects prevalent in the region at this time. From 9th -12th May one crew member was admitted to hospital ashore with amoebic dysentery and pneumonia, he was released as the bill was not paid.

ITF regional office in Rio is in communication with the crewing agents, and endeavouring to put pressure on the vessel owners to respect the human rights of crew members. No satisfactory response has been received to date.

Crew are subsisting on the charity of local people, whilst their families in India are experiencing serious difficulties due to lack of remittances.
