Industrial Organizations Act 1962 (Cap. 173). - Adoption: 1962 | PNG-1962-L-65908 The Act provides for the registration and control of industrial organizations. An “industrial organization” under the Act "means a trade or other union, or branch of a union, or an organization or body–
(a) that is composed of, or is representative of, employers or employees; and
(b) one of the objects of which is, under its constitution, the regulation, in respect of industrial matters, of the relations between–
(i) employees and employers; or
(ii) employees and employees; or
(iii) employers and employers,
or for taking part in or in the settlement of industrial disputes on behalf of its members, whether it would or would not, if this Act had not been passed, have been deemed to be unlawful by reason of some one or more of its objects being in restraint of trade."

Child Welfare Act 1961 (Consolidated to No. 13 of 1990). - Adoption: 1961 | PNG-1961-L-70703 Provides for the protection of children under the age of 16 years. Allows for the director to place a child in employment either as an apprentice or, in certain circumstances, in suitable employment without apprenticeship (section 73). Part XI regulates the Employment of Children. It is prohibited to endanger a child by involving them in a public exhibition or performance or any preparation, training or rehearsal for a public exhibition or performance (section 79). It is also prohibited for a child to be involved in street trading between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m or at any time on a Sunday (section 80).
