Caricom Agreement on Social Security.

Provides for co-operation in social security matters among Caribbean Community states. Part II stipulates that persons shall be subject to the social security legislation of only one contracting party to the Agreement, and sets forth provisions governing social security benefits for persons employed in transnational enterprises, itinerant employees, seafarers, and self-employed persons. Part III covers invalidity, old age, retirement, survivors' and disablement pension, and death benefit. Also provides for determination of benefits, totalisation of contribution periods, and payment of partial benefits. Part IV deals with the application of the Agreement. Heads of the Social Security Schemes of the contracting parties shall constitute a Committee which shall deal with administrative matters. This Part also governs application of the totalisation principle, submission of claims, determination of invalidity, medical examination, payment of benefits, and dispute settlement. Convention on Social Security in the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States

The purpose of this Convention is to coordinate social security legislation within the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States; it is comprised of 61 articles and divided into 5 Parts. Part I provides definitions, and sets out the scope of the Convention. Part II establishes what country's legislation shall be applicable to an employee in specified circumstances, such as work abroad. Part III contains detailed provisions concerning the various categories of benefits. Parts IV and V contain miscellaneous, transitional and final provisions. Attached to the Convention is an Administrative Agreement among the member states for the application of the Convention.
