People's Police Force Maintenance of Discipline Law (No. 4/95). Adoption: 1995-04-26 | MMR-1995-L-61338 Applies to all members of People's Police Force. Comprehensive legislation on maintenance of discipline. Chapter II regulates submission of grievances by members of police force who deem themselves wronged by superior officer. Chapter III provides for administrative power of Police Director General. Chapter IV deals with arrest and custody of member of police force who is charged with offence. Chapter V makes provision for different types of offences. Chapter VI deals with summary trial if offence is not serious enough to be tried by Police Court. Chapter VII regulates powers and procedures of Police Court. Chapter VIII deals with execution of sentences, Chapter IX with procedure to be followed by Police Courts, Chapter X with confirmation and revision, and Chapter XI with appeal.

Departmental inquiry is inquiry by superior authority into conduct of subordinate. Section 1 determines when departmental inquiry should be held. Section 2 regulates inquiry in case of inefficiency. Subsequent sections deal with preliminary investigation, opening step in formal inquiry, action on receipt of statement of defence, procedure at oral inquiry, findings and orders, punishments, appeals, suspension, and some related matters.
