The Social Security Law (No. 19 of 2001). - Adoption: 2001-05-01 | Date d'entrée en vigueur: 2001-05-31 | JOR-2001-L-59599 This Law has been replaced by the Social Security Temporary Law (Law No. 7 of 2010). However, some of its provisions remain in force with respect to the following (articles noted at the beginning are those in Law No. 7 of 2010):
- Article 77: "Despite what has been mentioned in Article (108) of this law, the application of Social Security provision No. (19) for year 2001 shall be continued on the insured soldier with the observance of provisions of sub-paragraphs (b), (c), (d), (e), (f ) and (g) of this article...In case the insured soldier was entitled to an aged pension allocated in accordance with the provisions of both Articles (42) and (43) or a pension allocated in accordance with the provisions of the Article (44) of SSL No. (19) for the year 2001, disability pension allocated to him/her in accordance with the provisions of Military Retirement Law, and Military Medical Committees system, shall be added to the retirement pension allocated to him/her."
- Article 78: "Despite any other provisions, private fund contributions may be deducted from the retirement pensions, or disability pensions or due sums of money for the insured soldier, or his/her beneficiaries, as well as debts specific to the Jordanian Armed Forces, and Security Corps, with the observance of the determined priorities in accordance with the provisions of Article (65) of SSL No. (19) for the year 2001."
- Article 106: "provisions of Article (42), sub-paragraphs (a), (b), (c) and (d) of Article (43), and Article (44) of the SSL No. (19) for the year 2001 and its amendments, shall remain valid for the insured who fulfills the eligibility conditions for entitlement to the aged pension before 1/1/2011, and the insured whose number of contributions are no less than 216 actual contributions for males and 180 actual contributions for females by that date even if he/she continues to be covered by the provisions of this law after that date."
This Law provides for the establishment of the General Social Security Institution which should provide social insurance for all workers under sixteen with certain exceptions (seafarers, domestic servants, agricultural workers). The major chapters in the Law are the following: Labour Injuries and Occupational Diseases, Old Age, Disability and Death Benefits. Four lists are appended to the text: List of Occupational Diseases, List of Labour Injuries, List of sums due for the inclusion of past services, and List of shares in pensions or compensations.

Instructions Amending the Fee-charging Employment Agencies Regulations of 1999. They may also establish periodic examinations. The results are to be kept in a special medical file for each worker. The employer is also obliged to inform the worker of the risks associated with the job. The regulation also provides for the establishment of medical services in all enterprises.

Decision issued by the Minister of Labour regarding work and times in which women are not allowed to work, 1997. Adoption: 1997-04-30 | JOR-1997-M-70550 Prohibits the employment of women in certain sectors and for certain tasks (e.g. mines and shipping/dock sector, foundry work, making mirrors using mercury, handling of explosives, mineral welding, exposure to lead, making electrical batteries, pitch, rubber). In addition, pregnant women are prohibited from working in jobs where they risk being exposed to X-rays, oil and petrol derivatives and other substances, which risk deforming the foetus. In principle, women are not allowed to work between 8pm and 6am. Exceptions to this rule include, inter alia, work in hotels, restaurants, airports, hospitals, and accounting where there are annual audits to do.
