    Removes provisions from, and adds one provision to, the list of specified provisions in Schedule 1 to the Employment Protection (Consolidation) Act 1978 (see LS 1984 - UK 1A), in consequence of the adoption of the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 1988. An employee suspended from work on medical grounds is entitled to be paid remuneration by the employer, where provided by the 1978 Act.

Requires employers to reduce exposure to lowest reasonably practicable level and provide protective equipment as necessary and protective clothing. Revokes, with certain excepted provisions, the Asbestos Regulations 1969 and regulation 6 of the Asbestos (Licensing) Regulations 1983. Issued in pursuance of Council Directives 83/477/EEC and 76/769/EEC, as amended.

The Second Schedule contains a list of poisonous substances in relation to which the provisions of Part III of the Ordinance apply.
