    Provides that persons who have reached the age of 25 may take leave for training for a minimum of 1 week and a maximum of 1 year. A prerequisite for leave is that the person during leave be a member of a recognized unemployment fund who is entitled to daily cash benefits under the Unemployment Insurance Act. Provides that parents may take leave to care for their own children (includes adopted children) between the ages of 0 and 8 years for a minimum of 13 weeks and maximum of 52 weeks (maximum 52 weeks for each child, each parent is entitled to 26 weeks of the 52 weeks, one parent may not transfer his or her leave to the other parent). Benefits during leave are paid at 80 per cent of salary. Also provisions on sabbatical leave.

    Provides that persons who have reached the age of 25 may take leave for a maximum of one year to participate in recognized public training schemes. Persons who have children between the ages of 0 and 8 years may take leave to care for their own children (adopted children included) for a minimum of 13 weeks and a maximum of 52 weeks. A prerequisite is that the person shall be entitled to daily cash benefits in the event of sickness, confinement and adoption. Each parent is entitled to 26 weeks of the 52 weeks and parents cannot transfer their entitlement between each other. Also provisions on prohibition of dismissal and return to work.

    Inserts, inter alia, a new section 11a providing that the employer may decide that leave should be for 26 weeks if the employer can show that the employment services cannot find a replacement starting at the time of leave, or if the employer does not wish to hire the proposed replacement, and a new section 11b providing that the employer must notify the worker and the employment services of the posting at least 14 days before the commencement of leave.
