Factories and Industrial Undertaking (Asbestos) Regulation (L.N. 74 of 1997). - Adoption: 1997-01-21 | CHN-1997-R-46402 Requires employers who carry out work with asbestos to identify the type of asbestos used and assess the degree of exposure. Requires that notice be given to the Commissioner for Labour regarding work done with asbestos. Employers shall reduce the exposure to asbestos when possible and provide respiratory protective equipment. Provides for air monitoring, training for workers, and medical surveillance of workers exposed to asbestos. S. 20 disallows employment of young persons in asbestos-related work. S. 21 prohibits the process of asbestos spraying and the use of asbestos insulation. Made under the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance (Cap. 59).

Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Noise at Work) Regulation (L.N. 239 of 1992) - Adoption: 1992-06-23 | CHN-1992-R-29971 The object of this Regulation made under the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance (Cap. 59) is to protect the hearing of employees who are exposed or likely to be exposed to hazardous noise levels while at work in an industrial undertaking by requiring that a competent person make a noise assessment to identify employees who are likely to be exposed to hazardous noise levels; employees are provided with suitable approved ear protectors; exposure of employees to noise is reduced to a safe level; and adequate information, instruction and training on ear protection is provided to each employee. This Regulation also repeals the current more limited provisions respecting sound protection in the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Regulations (Cap. 59 sub. leg.).

Regulations for Prevention of Poisoning in Mercurial Thermometer Production Lao An (1989) No. 14. Adoption: 1989-07-26 | CHN-1989-R-37850 The purpose of these Regulations is to eliminate or reduce hazards and occupational diseases caused by mercury in mercurial thermometer production (Ch.I). Ch.II concerns basic requirements of work environment in mercurial workshops. Ch.III governs administration and supervision of production safety. Ch.IV lays down rules for disposal of mercurial gas, sewage and residues. Ch.V deals with occupational health service for staff and workers. Penalties are provided for in Ch.VI for violation of these Regulations.
