    It is decided at the 16th Session of the Standing Committee of the Twelfth National People's Congress to ratify the Maritime Labour Convention 2006 as adopted by International Labour Organization at the 94th Session of the International Labour Conference convened in Geneva on February 23, 2006.

    The social insurance categories applicable to the PRC are old-age insurance, medical insurance, employment injury insurance, unemployment insurance and maternity insurance.The MLC 2006 does not apply to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Macao Special Administrative Region until governmental notice states otherwise.

Gives effect to 1995 amendments to the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers, 1978.
