    La citada orden modifica la cláusula núm. 3 de las "Disposiciones especiales que son aplicables cuando se hace expresa referencia en la condiciones particulares" que constan en la Póliza Uniforme de Seguro de Accidentes de Trabajo y Enfermedades Profesionales, aprobada por la ordenanza núm. 237/95/M, de 14 de agosto, y modificada por la Orden Ejecutiva núm. 32/2001. Establece que, mediante el pago de la sobretasa correspondiente, el seguro también cubrirá los accidentes que puedan sufrir los trabajadores en el trayecto normal hacia lugar de trabajo o al regresar de este.

    Part II sets forth responsibilities of employers in relation to safe use of plant. Dangerous machinery must be guarded and not serviced by young workers. Part III covers fire precautions, and Part IV deals with workplace environment, including matters related to ventilation and lighting. Part V regards hygiene at the workplace, and Part VI requires the maintenance of first aid facilities at the workplace. Part VII covers manual handling operations. Employers shall assess risk of manual operations and provide adequate training.

    Comprehensive regulations governing occupational safety and health. Owners of workplaces shall ensure safety and health of employees, and employees shall cooperate with employer and assist in taking care of other employees. Requires the reporting of accidents, occupational diseases or other dangerous occurences at the workplace. Provides for the appointment of a Commissioner for Labour, who may in turn appoint occupational safety officers, who shall have the power to inspect premises and enforce the Ordinance. The attached Schedules set forth notifiable diseases and occurences.

    Requires employers who carry out work with asbestos to identify the type of asbestos used and assess the degree of exposure. Requires that notice be given to the Commissioner for Labour regarding work done with asbestos. Employers shall reduce the exposure to asbestos when possible and provide respiratory protective equipment. Provides for air monitoring, training for workers, and medical surveillance of workers exposed to asbestos. S. 20 disallows employment of young persons in asbestos-related work. S. 21 prohibits the process of asbestos spraying and the use of asbestos insulation. Made under the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance (Cap. 59).
