Second Region

Provides with respect to employment training that section 8 of the Employment Act 1989 shall apply to any special treatment afforded (a) by the making of any payment, in connection with the participation of a lone parent in employment training, to a person having the care of a child of that lone parent or (b) by the fixing of any special condition for the participation of lone parents in employment training. By virtue of section 8(2) of the Employment Act 1989, where the section applies to any special treatment afforded to or in respect of lone parents, neither the treatment so afforded nor any act done in the implementation of such treatment shall be regarded for the purposes of the Sex Discrimination Act 1975 (LS 1975 - UK 1) as giving rise to any discrimination falling within section 3 of that Act (discrimination against married persons for the purposes of Part II of that Act).
