| Résumé/Citation: | The European Convention on Nationality, approved by the Parliament on May 13, 2008 and by the President of the Republic on July 18, 2008, for which the instrument of approval submitted to the Secretary General of the Council of Europe on August 6, 2008, shall enter into force on December 1, 2008. A first reservation is made against article 21, section 3, p. g, under which the obligations in article 21 is not binding for Finland when troops are ordered to additional duty under the Conscription Act. A second reservation is made against article 22, p. a, under which a person exempted from military service in another state party to the Convention is not deemed to have completed military service in Finland. A person may be exempted from military service under section 74 or 76 of the Conscription Act. The age limit related to Article 22, p. b of the Convention is set to 30 years. |
