Abstract/Citation
Recognizes that all human beings are born free and equal and entitled to rights regardless of race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property and birth or other status.
Prohibits slavery or servitude (Art.4), torture and cruel or inhuman treatment (Art.5).
Recognizes the right to freedom of movement and residence within the borders of each State, the right to leave any country and to return to own country (Art.13) and the right to seek and to enjoy in other countries asylum from persecution (Art.14).
Recognizes the right to social security (Art.22), the right to work, to free choice of employment, to just and favourable conditions of work and to protection against unemployment, the right to equal pay for equal work, the right to form and to join trade unions for the protection of his interests (Art.23).
Encourages everyone's right to education, which should be free, at least in the elementary and fundamental stages (Art.26).
