Second Region

Comprehensive legislation on Children's Authority. Divided into 7 parts. Part I contains preliminary provisions. Part II establishes of Children's Authority, and defines its functions and powers. Responsibilities of Authority inlcude the monitoring of community residences, foster homes and nurseries, and the conduting of periodic reviews to determine their compliance with prescribed requirements. Authority also investigates complaints of staff, children, and parents or guardians of children. Part III contains provisions regarding children in need of care and protection. Part IV regulates care of children under Authority; Part V maintenance of children in care. Part VI contains financial provisions, and Part VII miscellaneous provisions.
