| Résumé/Citation: | Comprehensive legislation on adoption of children. Gives effect to International Convention on Rights of the Child, 1990. Divided into 8 parts. Part I contains preliminary provisions. Part II establishes Adoption Board, and defines its functions and powers. Responsibilities of Board include making of recommendations to court as to whether in its view adoption is in the best interest of the child whose adoption is sought. Part III regulates arrangements for adoption. Part IV provides for freeing of child for adoption. Parts V and VI deal with issue, registration and effects of adoption orders. Part VII provides for overseas adoption. Finally, Part VIII contains miscellaneous provisions. |
