Abstract/Citation
Comprehensive legislation on industrial relations. Divided into 9 chapters. Chapter 1 contains preliminary provisions. Chapter 2 makes provision for trade unions. Sets forth principle of freedom of association. Regulates registration of trade unions, collective bargaining and check-off. Chapter 3 provides for workers' participation in dispute resolution. Contains provisions regarding shop stewards, work councils, dispute settlement, conciliation, strike , lock-out, and representation of parties. Chapter 4 deals with labour courts. Regulates procedure before labour court, redress, and appeal to High Court. Chapter 5 establishes National Industrial Relations Commission. Chapter 6 regulates powers and functions of registrar of trade unions. Chapter 7 provides for decisions, settlements and awards; Chapter 8 for penalties. Chapter 9 contains miscellaneous provisions. Repeals the Industrial Relations Ordinance, 1969.
