| Résumé/Citation: | Deals with various aspects of publishing. Divided into 9 chapters. Chapter 1 contains definitions. Chapter 2 contains general provisions regarding publishing houses, including requirements for owners and managers of publishing houses. Chapter 3 regulates circulation of publications. Establishes that no person shall be allowed to sell or circulate publications in a public space without permit obtained from the competent authority. Chapter 4 deals with newspapers, periodic publications and news agencies. Chapter 5 provides for import and export of publications, newspapers and news letters. Provides that non-nationals who are not registered for this purpose at the Ministry may not import or export publications or newspapers. Chapter 6 deals with films and similar work. Chapter 7 establishes which material is prohibited from publication. Sets forth prohibition to criticise President of the Republic or the rulers of the Emirates, as well as a number of other prohibitions. Chapter 8 provides for penalties. |
