Résumé/Citation: The cause of the dismissal shall not be tied to the person of the dismissed. The present act cannot be applied to mass contracts concluded for a determined period of time or for a specified work project, to the employees of the public service, to organisations which are partially under state control, to personnel of the Regional Administration, or to the ships' crews. Establishes the employer's obligation to consult with the employees' representatives before mass dismissals for the conclusion of a common agreement. Also defines the employer's obligation to provide all necessary information to employees concerning the reasons for the dismissals, the number of the employees to be dismissed, the time or the period during which dismissals may take place, the criteria for the selection of the employees to be dismissed, and the way in which compensation will be calculated. The employer is obliged to notify the authorities of his intention to dismiss and the procedure to do so.
