Second Region

Comprehensive legislation on penal institutions. Makes provision for administration of institutions (Part 2), movement of inmates (Part 3), inmate treatment and welfare, including working conditions (Part 4), special categories of inmates (Part 5), discipline and order (Part 6), drug and alcohol testing (Part 7), complaints (Part 8), and security officers (Part 9). Section 38 declares that, unless there is an emergency, no inmate may be required to work on a certain day if working on that day would be inconsistent with the inmate's genuine religious beliefs. This section also establishes that no inmate may be required to work more than 40 hours each week.
