Second Region

Comprehensive legislation governing industrial relations. Chapter 2 provides for leave, including annual leave, public holidays, parental leave, and long service leave. Part 5 provides for equal remuneration for work of equal or comparable value. Chapter 3 covers dismissals, lay-off, and protection of injured employees. Chapter 4 provides for freedom of association. Chapter 5 covers awards, wages and employment of apprentices and trainees, and labour market programmes. Chapter 6 deals with certified agreements, collective bargaining, industrial action, and Queensland Workplace Agreements (QWA). Chapter 7 governs industrial disputes and further regulates industrial action; Chapter 8 concerns industrial tribunals and magistrates; Chapter 9 covers appeals; Chapter 10 governs enforcement. Chapter 11 covers records and wages, and Chapter 12 deals with industrial organizations. The remaining chapters concern public servants, amalgamations and withdrawals of industrial organizations, general matters and savings and repeals. Repeals the Workplace Relations Act 1997 and the Industrial Organisations Act 1997.
