This publication includes all amendments to the Mines Act 1923 up to June 1987. The consolidation encompasses the Competency Certificates Examination Rules 1981 and the Central Rescue Station (Coal and Coke Mines) Rules 1986, inter alia. Topics addressed by the various enactments include inspection, hours of work and rest periods, employment of young persons and women, annual leave, various aspects of safety and health, work practices in oil fields, record keeping, welfare funds for mines, maternity benefits, payment of wages and wage-fixing, certificates of competency and rescue stations in mines. The Sind Coal and Metalliferous Mines (Supplementary) Regulations 1986, which are also reproduced, cover safety officers, vocational training, medical examinations and other measures related to safety and health.
