Résumé/Citation: |
Amends the principal Act so as to provide for the establishment of a Judicial Inspectorate and the appointment of an Inspecting Judge and Independent Prison Visitors. Inserts a new section 20A which allows private companies to enter into a contract to run a prison. A private contractor shall comply with international standards regarding the treatment of prisoners, and such a contractor shall be declared an essential service under s. 70 of the Labour Relations Act. |
