Provides that workers sent from one country to the other will remain insured only in the home country's scheme, as long as the period of work abroad is intended to be no longer than five years. This prevents payment of National Insurance contributions into the schemes of the two countries at the same time (a double contribution liability). Also provides for workers who suffer an industrial accident or contract an industrial disease whilst working and paying contributions in Canada to be able to claim UK Industrial Injury Disablement Benefit on return to the UK. The agreement for including in pensionable employment, under the Canada Pension Plan, certain employment in Canada by the Government of the United Kingdom of 13 December 1966 is repealed on the date of entry into force of this Convention.
