Second Region

Amends provisions of the Workplace Relations Act 1996, the Industrial Relations Act 1988 and numerous other legislative texts. Restates the principal object of the Workplace Relations Act, which shall include "the pursuit of high employment" and the elimination of discrimination on the basis of, inter alia, colour, sex, sexual preference, age, physical or mental disability, marital status, family responsibilities, and pregnancy. Amendments regard the functions of the Employment Advocate, representation rights of organizations of employees, awards, termination of employment, enterprise flexibility agreements, Australian workplace agreements, freedom of association, industrial actions, and the Australian Trade Union Authority.
