Second Region

Regulates claims to jobseeker's allowance, provided by the Jobseeker's Act 1995. Part II provides requirements about availability to work; normally, a person must be able to take up employment of at least 40 hours a week. Chapter III contains provisions setting out the steps a person must take to establish that they are actively seeking employment. Chapter IV contains provisions as to attendance by the claimant and the provision of information and evidence. Chapter V contains details of the contents of the Jobseeker's Agreement (s. 31). Part III deals with conditions to entitlement; Part IV contains provisions relating to young people. Part IX contains provisions for the payment of "hardship" payments, which may be paid to persons who would not normally qualify for jobseeker's allowance.
