Résumé/Citation: Replaces the 1968 Basic Law by the same name in its entirety, and encompasses the Law on Direct Election of the Prime Minister. Provides that a chief executive must personally receive a popular mandate and uncontestable power to form a government. Limitations on this power are the Knesset's approval of the Prime Minister's cabinet and a smaller Knesset majority to oust the government.
