Second Region

This Act (LS 1987 - NZ 1) completely recasts the law relating to labour relations. The new legislation governs the registration of unions and employers organisations, their affairs, union membership and elections, negotiations, enforcement of awards and agreements, disputes, personal grievances, strikes and lockouts. It repeals the Industrial Relations Act 1973 (LS 1973 - NZ 1; 1976 - NZ 1A and 1B), amendments thereto, and the Aircrew Industrial Tribunal Act 1971, as amended. It also amends a series of Acts, including ss. 2 and 28 to 31 of the Union Representatives Education Leave Act 1986 (LS 1986 - NZ 1).
