Second Region

This Order made pursuant to the Northern Ireland Act 1974 is comprised of 108 sections and divided into 12 Parts. Part II concerns the regulation of trade unions and employers' associations; Part III deals with restrictions on legal liability and legal proceedings; Part IV provides for rights of trade union members; Part V governs disclosure of information; Parts VI and VII concern secret ballots before industrial action and for trade union elections; Part VIII relates to political funds and objects; Part IX provides for a certification officer and commissioner for the rights of trade union members; Part X deals with amalgamations of trade unions; and Part XI provides for "machinery for promoting improvement of industrial relations" including a labour relations agency, an industrial court, and courts of inquiry. Parts I and XII concern introductory and miscellaneous matters. This Order amends Part III of the Fair Employment (Northern Ireland) Acts 1976 and 1989, the Contracts of Employment and Redundancy Payments Act (Northern Ireland) 1965, the Industrial Relations (Northern Ireland) Orders 1976, 1982, 1984, and 1987; and the Industrial Relations (No. 2) Northern Ireland) Order 1976. The Trade Union Act 1871; the Trade Union Act Amendment Act 1876; the Trade Union Act 1913; the Industrial Courts Act 1919; the Trade Disputes and Trade Unions Act (Northern Ireland) 1927 and 1958; and the Trade Union (Amalgamations, etc.) Act (Northern Ireland) 1965 are repealed.
