Résumé/Citation: The Act repeals and re-enacts with amendments the Regulation of Employment Act (Chapter 272 of the 1985 Revised Edition). Prohibits the employment of foreign workers without valid work permits and creates penalties for employers who do so (s. 5); establishes under the jurisdiction of the Controller of Work Permits procedures for the granting (s. 7) and termination (s. 9) of work permits; provides for the possibility of a levy on employers who employ certain classes of foreign workers (s. 11); enumerates the powers of employment inspectors (s. 16); and lists penalties and the jurisdiction of the courts to impose them.
