The present Law establishes legal status of internal sea, territorial sea, contiguous zone, EEZ and continental shelf of Georgia in the Black sea in accordance with universally recognized principles and norms on international law. The document consists of XI Chapters that contain 70 Articles. Chapter I (arts. 1-7) lays down general provisions. Chapter II (arts. 8-14) regards internal sea. Chapter III (arts. 15-27) regards territorial sea. Chapter IV (arts. 28 and 29) regards contiguous zone. Chapter V (arts. 30-37) regards EEZ. Chapter VI (arts. 38-43) regards continental shelf. Chapter VII (arts. 44 and 45) establishes the right of inland states to free transit through the territory of Georgia for the purpose of the use of sea and access to the sea. Chapter VIII (arts. 46-54) regards marine research in the maritime zone of Georgia. Chapter IX (arts. 55-64) regards protection of marine environment in the maritime zone of Georgia. Chapter X (arts. 65-68) regards pursue and arrest of foreign vessels. Chapter XI (Arts. 69-79) lays down final provisions.
