Prescribes the State basic education standards, the primary objectives and tasks of basic education programmes, the mandatory content of basic education, the main principles and procedures for the evaluation of basic education acquired by educates, as well as basic education subject standards, the primary objectives and tasks of subjects, the mandatory content of subjects, basic requirements regarding the acquisition of subjects, the forms and methodological techniques for the evaluation of educational achievements.
Repeals Cabinet Regulation No.462 of 5 December 2000 on Regulations Regarding the State Primary Education Standard (Latvijas Vstnesis, 2000, No. 473/476).
