Second Region

Replaces the three separate systems of service law with a single, harmonised system governing all members of the armed forces. Creates offences and provides for the investigation of alleged offences, the arrest, holding in custody and charging of individuals accused of committing an offence, and for them to be dealt with summarily by their CO or tried by court-martial.
Makes a number of changes to a large number of laws and repeals the following Acts:
- Colonial Naval Defence Act 1931 (c. 9)
- Naval Forces (Enforcement of Maintenance Liabilities) Act 1947 (c. 24)
- Army and Air Force (Women's Service) Act 1948 (c. 21)
- Colonial Naval Defence Act 1949 (c. 18)
- Army Act 1955 (3 & 4 Eliz. 2 c. 18)
- Air Force Act 1955 (3 & 4 Eliz. 2 c. 19)
- Naval Discipline Act 1957 (c. 53)
- Army and Air Force Act 1961 (c. 52)
- Armed Forces Act 1966 (c. 45)
- Armed Forces Act 1986 (c. 21)
- Army Act 1992 (c. 39)
- Armed Forces Discipline Act 2000 (c. 4)
