Abstract/Citation: Amends the Opticians Act 1958; makes amendments of the National Health Service Act 1977 and the National Health Service (Scotland) Act 1978 in relation to general ophthalmic services, finance in the National Health Service and certain functions of the Secretary of State; makes amendments of the National Health Service Act 1977 in relation to Family Practitioner Committees; makes provision for the reimbursement of the cost of certain treatment in the European Economic Community; amends the law relating to social security, statutory sick pay and contracted-out occupational pension schemes; and for connected purposes. Numerous amendments to, inter alia, the Social Security Act 1975, the Social Security Pensions Act 1975 and the Social Security and Housing Benefits Act 1982.
