Recognizes, inter alia, the rights of the child to be protected from economic exploitation and from performing any hazardous work (harmful to the child's health or physical, mental, spiritual, moral or social development) or work that interferes with the child's education. Calls on States to provide for a minimum age or minimum ages for admission to employment and for appropriate regulation of the hours and conditions of employment (Art.32).
Insists that states take take appropriate measures, including legislative, administrative, social and educational measures, to protect children from the illicit use and trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances (Art.33). Recognizes the need to protect the child from all forms of sexual exploitation or sexual abuse (Art.34) and protection against the sale and trafficing of children (Art.35). Respects rules of international humanitarian law applicable to children in armed conflicts (Art.38).
