Second Region

Provides for the protection of adolescents (15 to 18 years of age) and of young persons (under 18 years of age) at work. Abolishes the work of children. Work of children 14 years old or older shall take place in the framework of work-training with permission of the Minister of Labour and Social Security. Provides for the employment of children for special cultural, artistic, athletic or advertising purposes, with permission of the Minister, under certain conditions and for a determined period of time. Defines working conditions, hours of work and of rest periods, weekly rest and holidays, and establishes restrictions concerning night work. Set forth obligations of employers and prohibits work which may pose any kind of risk to a young person's or child's physical and mental health. Establishes free medical examination for young persons at work, under the employer's responsibility. Provides for special labour inspectors to deal with work of children and young persons.
