Second Region

Consolidates the Police Act 1964, Part IX of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984, Chapter I of Part I of the Police and Magistrates' Courts Act 1994 and certain other enactments relating to the police. Part One governs the organization of the police forces. This concerns police areas and alterations of police areas. Establishes the functions, appointment and removal of chief constables, assistant chief constables and other members. Provides for clerks and civilian employees. Part Two deals with central supervision, direction and facilities. Establishes the functions of the Secretary of State with regard to the police. Provides for inspectors of constabulary and central services. Part Four concerns complaints and disciplinary proceedings. Regulates the Police Complaints Authority and the handling of complaints. Provides for investigations and reports. Part Five makes miscellaneous and general provisions. Governs offences and finances. Makes supplementary provisions.
