Abstract/Citation
Revokes and replaces the Merchant Shipping (Dangerous Goods and Marine Pollutants) Regulations 1990. Changes the 1990 regulations in order to move responsibilities formerly placed on the shipowner to the ship operator. Implements previous directives relating to vessels bound for or leaving community ports carrying dangerous or polluting goods. Adopts regulations to implement the 1991 amendments to the Safety of Life at Sea COnvention 1974 (Solas) adopted by the Maritime Safety Committee. Adopts the IMO Codes currently in force.
