Part I: Employment Particulars. Requires employers to provide a statement of employment particulars and an itemised pay statement. Part II: Protection of Wages. Regards deductions and payments during cash shortages in retail employment. Part III: Guarantee Payments Part IV: Sunday Working for Shop and Betting Workers Part V: Protection from Suffering Detriment in Employment Part VI: Time Off Work. Contains provisions relating to time off for job searching, training, ante-natal care, and for labour tribunal activities. Part VII: Suspension from Work. Inter alia, covers suspension on maternity grounds. Part VIII: Maternity Rights. Provides rights to maternity leave and right to return to work. Part IX: Termination of Employment. Provides right of minimum notice and written statement of reason for dismissal. Part X: Unfair Dismissal. Provides protection from unfair dismissal for such reasons as refusal to work Sundays, pregnancy, and assertion of statutory rights. Also covers remedies for unfair dismissal such as compensation and re-engagement. Part XI: Dismissal by Reason of Redundancy Part XII: Insolvency of Employers Part XIII: Miscellaneous. Contains exclusions to the Act, including employees of the Crown and short-term employees, and covers provisions relating to the death of an employee or employer.
