Second Region

Provides comprehensive regulations for the use of radioactive materials at the workplace. Requires employers to train personnel in the safe handling of radioactive materials, provide medical surveillance, monitor levels of radiation, provide safety equipment and devise contingency plans. Made under Health Protection (Ionising Radiation) Ordinance 1995 and implements Council Directives 80/836/Euratom and 84/467/Euratom.
