Second Region

Defines the notion of "national minorities" and provides for the right to preserve ethnic identity, cultural traditions, mother tongue and religious beliefs. Establishes a national register of national minorities containing information such as, inter alia, name, place of residence and religion. Provides that a person can have his/her record deleted upon resquest. Sets out details of the procedure for establishing the main organizations for cultural autonomy and provides for the financing of activities of related educational, cultural and social care institutions. Repeals Law on the Ethnic Rights of Citizens of the Estonian SSR of 15 December 1989. Available in English.
