Abstract/Citation: Provides for the adoption of a wide range of measures to assist the disabled and uphold their rights to education, training, medical care and employment. Enterprises employing between 25 and 50 workers must employ at least one disabled person; those employing more than 50 workers must include at least two per cent disabled staff in their workforce. Provision is made for the establishment of the National Council for Protection of the Disabled, an inter-ministerial authority responsible for general policy-making in the fields of protection, rehabilitation and education; drafting regulations under the Act; preparing rehabilitation programmes and special educational curricula; etc.
